This one is a weird one which is why I am posting the fix I found. I also need to mention that game crashing can be caused by several problems including heat related issues or corrupt drivers so be sure to test this before killing the service completely as mentioned in step 3. I suspect that this service issue may be a problem with Windows 8 and 8.1 since it also uses the touch screen soft keyboard as well. This DLL is used by many games so you may be having the CTD problem quite a bit. Click OK and close the Services interface.

This is misleading and if you've tried to eliminate this problem like I was then you've already updated drivers, changed audio settings or possibly swapped out hardware but nothing helps. If you are experiencing this issue and have checked the Windows Event Log, you will see a vague reference to " XAudio2_7.dll" being the root cause.
